From his earliest days as a talented schoolboy artist participating in inter school shows and exhibitions; Bill Hicks knew he was destined for a creative career. He opted for jewellery design thanks to an aunt who encouraged him to join their family business.

There he developed and honed his exceptional talent for design, sketching and creating one-off pieces for fine jewellery clients. “My design skills were recognised immediately,” says Bill. “And I have always connected well with people, so I never looked back”.

Bill went on to become Head Designer at Michal Jewellers of Double Bay and David Jones Sydney and Adelaide , where he enjoyed considerable success in a number of diamond jewellery design awards run by De Beers, the international giant which has dominated the world diamond business since its earliest days.
